  • APCC 1st XI win the Middlesex Championship 2nd Division.
  • APCC celebrates its '125th Anniversary Year' with games against the MCC, CCC and 1987 League, and with a Dinner at the Alexandra Palace on 6th September with Chairman ANG Wilson in the chair.

  • APC elects as President B. S.King to succeed J. R. Bruscini.
  • AP 1st XI win the Middlesex Championship 2nd Division.

  • APCC elects as 1st XI Captain S.Cox.

  • Friday October 16th - APFC celebrates its ‘Centenary Year’ with a Dinner at the Improv Comedy Club, W1 with APFC Chairman B.M.Edwards in the chair.

AP 1st XI win the Middlesex Championship 1st Division, completing back-to-back league wins.

  • APCC elects as 1st XI Captain A.Chamberlain.
  • AP 1st XI win the Middlesex Championship 2nd Division.

APC elects as President C.W.G.Wilson to succeed J.W.R.Drake, and elects B.M.Edwards, M.B.Miller and F.W.Withall as Honorary Life Members.

APCC elects as 1st XI Captain A.K.Ghoshal.

  • APC elects J.S.Henderson and W.H.Macdonald as Honorary Life Members.
  • September 5th - The second new APC Pavilion officially opened.

February 9th - The APC Pavilion, built in 1976/7, was destroyed by fire.

APCC elects as 1st XI Captain T.L.Haydon.

APC elects P.R.Adams and J.R.Bruscini as Honorary Life Members.

APCC celebrates its ‘Centenary Year’ with matches against the MCC, the CCC, and the Middlesex Cricketers League, and a Dinner on Friday September 23rd at the Firs Hall N21 with APCC Chairman C.W.G.Wilson in the chair.

1985
July 16th - The APP Trustees may let for 22 years any part of park not exceeding 40 acres for games. (Act of 1985)

APC elects Mrs A.I.Munro as an Honorary Life Member.

1980

  • January 1st - The functions of the Greater London Council as APP Trustees transferred to the Council of the London Borough of Haringey. (Agreement of 1979)
  • APCC elects as 1st XI Captain C.R.Munday.
  • APC elects C.C.Hall and A.J.Lennox as Honorary Life Members.
  • July 18th - Substantial part of the Alexandra Palace building destroyed or seriously damaged by fire.

1970s


1979

  • APC elects J.K.Heale as an Honorary Life Member.
  • May 1st - APCC enters the Middlesex Cricketers League.

1978
APC elects Miss E.A.Jeffries as an Honorary Life Member.

1977

  • APCC elects as 1st XI Captain A. Casbard.
  • August 21st - The new APC Pavilion designed by long-time APC member, Ron Scott, officially opened.

1975

  • APC elects as President J.W.R.Drake to succeed T.W.D.Byford.
  • November 11th - The recently-extended and refurbished Victorian Pavilion destroyed by fire.

1973
APCC elects as 1st XI Captain D.M.Douglas.

1972

  • APCC elects as 1st XI Captain C.R.Munday.
  • May 1st - APCC and APFC amalgamate to form The Alexandra Park Club (APC) based at the Racecourse Ground, and elects as President T.W.D.Byford.

1971

  • Saturday July 17th - Blandford Hall, formerly a ballroom in the Park but latterly used to store paint and varnishes, destroyed by fire.
  • The GLC lays a paved road across the Racecourse grass providing vehicles with close access to the Pavilion. Previously, access had been ‘pedestrian only’ across a removable ‘pontoon’ bridge with cars parked on service road.

1970
Tuesday September 8th - The last meeting at ‘Ally Pally’ Racecourse as the Jockey Club would not renew the licence.

1960s


1969

  • APCC elects Mrs J.S.Henderson and H.N.Greene as Honorary Life Members.
  • Friday April 25th - APFC celebrates its ‘70th Anniversary Year’ with a Dinner & Dance.

1968
APCC elects as 1st XI Captain D.J.Oakes.

1967
APCC elects as President C.E.Marten to succeed C.S.Davies, and elects J.W.R.Drake and J.L.Stewart as Honorary Life Members.

1966

  • APCC elects as 1st XI Captain D.J.Edge.
  • Between March 30th and October 24th there were 13 Race meetings (the most in any season), 6 afternoon meetings when ground closed to APCC members until 6:00pm and 7 evening meetings when ground closed throughout the day.
  • May 1st - The functions of the APP Trustees transferred to the Greater London Council (GLC). (Order of 1966)

1964
APCC elects as President C.S.Davies to succeed S.W.Brent.

1963
May 19th - APCC celebrates its ‘75th Anniversary Year’ with a match against an Eleven captained by Mr P.I. (Ian) Bedford, MCC and former Middlesex CCC Captain.

1962
APCC elects A.I.Munro as an Honorary Life Member.

  • The Club Cricket Conference elects C.S.Davies as President.
  • APCC elects A.H.Greenwood as an Honorary Life Member.

1960

  • APCC elects K.A.F.Hudson as an Honorary Life Member.
  • The Alexandra Park Lawn Tennis Club pavilion destroyed by fire.

APCC elects Mrs L.G.May and F.S.Haynes as Honorary Life Members.

APCC elects as President S.W.Brent to succeed E.A.Cawdron, JP.

APCC elects as 1st XI Captain J.W.R.Drake, and elects C.S.Davies as an Honorary Life Member.

1955

  • APCC elects W.S.W.Fone and C.E.Marten as Honorary Life Members.
  • April 23rd - APFC win the AFA Senior Cup beating Polytechnic 4 - 1 in the Final.

1954

  • APCC elects as 1st XI Captain C.S.Davies, and elects L.W.Newman and T.H.Holt as Honorary Life Members.
  • April 24th - APFC become Champions of the SAL Division 1.

1953
The Club Cricket Conference elects L.W.Newman as President.

1950
APCC elects S.W.Brent as an Honorary Life Member.

1949
Wednesday 23rd March - APCC celebrates its ‘Diamond Jubilee’ with a Dinner at the Abercorn Rooms, Gt Eastern Hotel with Chairman the APCC President County Alderman E.A.Cawdron.

1948
APCC elects E.A.Cawdron and H.R.Greenwood as its first Honorary Life Members.

1946

  • APCC elects as 1st XI Captain L.W.Newman to succeed S.W.Brent.
  • June 4th - APFC’s ‘ex-railway coach’ pavilion destroyed by fire.
  • June 6th - APFC re-elected to the SAL.
  • October 19th - APFC officially opens its new pavilion.

1930s


1938

  • Friday 28th October - APCC celebrates its ‘Jubilee Year’ with a Dinner and Dance at the Waldorf Hotel with Chairman the APCC President E.A.Cawdron, Esq., CC, JP.
  • APFC fails to be re-elected to the SAL.

1936
November 2nd - The first regular high definition television service in the world inaugurated by the BBC and transmitted from the television station at the south-east corner of the Alexandra Palace.

1934
Wednesday September 19th - APCC is visited by Donald Bradman (knighted 1949) following completion of the ‘Ashes’ series.

1933

  • APCC elects as President E.A.Cawdron, Esq. MCC to succeed W.F.Bradshaw, Esq.
  • September 1st - APFC acquires an ‘ex-railway coach’ for its pavilion.

1932
September 17th - APFC plays its first season on the field below the boating lake in Alexandra Park.

1930

  • APCC changes “Colours” to Light and Dark Blue and Red.
  • June 7th - Highgate 31 all out vs. Alexandra Park 411 for 4 (L.W.Newman 230 not out).
  • Saturday August 30th - Conrad Stephen (Con) Davies (b. 27th June 1907 at Edgbaston, Birmingham) makes debut for Warwickshire vs. Essex at Leyton.

1920s


1929
APCC elects as 1st XI Captain S.W.Brent to succeed E.A.Cawdron, Founder and Middlesex County Councillor.

1926
October 1st - Alexandra Palace Indoor Cricket Club founded.

1925
September 1st - APFC enters the Southern Amateur League (SAL).

1921
APCC changes name to Alexandra Park Cricket and Lawn Tennis Club and embarks upon its first Kent Tour.

1910s


1915
APCC and 23 other cricket clubs found the Club Cricket Conference.

1913
The APP Trustees may let for 21 years any part of the park not exceeding 20 acres for games. (Act of 1913).

1912
May 1st - APCC takes possession of the lease for the entire AP Racecourse Ground.

1900s


1906
May 1st - APCC changes name to Alexandra Park Cricket and Tennis Club, fields a ‘Thursday’ side, and plays its first season on part of the AP Racecourse Ground.

1905
APCC is a ‘Rambling’ club with practice ground at Park Road, Bowes Park and changes “Colours” to Dark Blue.

1904
APCC elects as President Walter F. Bradshaw, Esq.

1900
August - The lands and buildings, known as the Alexandra Park and Palace (APP), acquired by a body corporate of Trustees constituted for the purpose and representing the major purchasers, Middlesex County Council and Hornsey and Wood Green Urban District Councils. (Act of 1900).

APCC elects as President R.D.M.Littler, Esq., QC, CB and adopts for “Colours” Light and Dark Blue.

1898
September 1st - E.A.Cawdron and friends found the Alexandra Park Football Club (APFC).

1888
May 1st - E.A.Cawdron and J.Lock found the Alexandra Park Cricket Club (APCC).

1877
November 24th - Ernest Albert Cawdron is born.

1875
May 1st - The second Alexandra Palace opened.

1873
May 24th - Alexandra Palace opened on Queen Victoria’s birthday only to be reduced by fire to a smouldering ruin sixteen days later on June 9th.

1868
June - Alexandra Park race course opened.

1863
July - Alexandra Park opened, the name being chosen as a tribute to the Princess of Wales.

1863
March 10th - HRH Princess Alexandra of Denmark marries Albert Edward Prince of Wales at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor.
